Platform 2008:
1. Illegal Immigration 2. Iraq War and winning it 3. Make tax cuts permanent 4. Boost economy of South Texas, sell the great work force and create more jobs. 5. Repeal CAFTA/NAFTA, Keep jobs in America
1. Illegal Immigration: Texas is suffering greatly because of Illegal Immigration. The drain on our social, health and schools is driving the costs of funding those not legal citizens or residents of Texas and the U.S. In Brownsville you can see the effect more than anywhere in the schools and social costs. The schools strive to provide quality education while fulfilling the federal mandate to educate all children in Brownsville. The children and taxpayers of Brownsville pay the price and will only be asked to pay more due to the overcrowding caused by the illegal immigration drain on education. When you look at the drain on social programs, you can not look past the problems caused by the illegal immigration drawing from the taxpayers dollars paid to fund the system. There is a set amount of dollars funded to meet the social programs in South Texas. When the programs are drained to meet the social needs of illegal immigrants, the local citizens suffer. One example is Head Start Program. It is here like the school system the drain on this vital social system is adversely affected by Illegal Immigrants. If there were to be a comprehensive worker program, one where all workers are documented and all are mandated to pay into the system and be paid a fair and legal wage the drain on the legal taxpayer system will be lessened. Everyone suffers when Illegal workers are in the job market and work for a sub standard wage. This causes wage structure to go down and the economy is degraded to a point that the social system is near collapse. Now that Congress has passed the minimum wage act the paying of sub standard wage should be stopped. The challenges of Medicare and Medicaid would be solved if all workers paid into the system.
2. Now is not the time to call for a retreat from Iraq. The Politicians and nay sayers are trying to create the same scenario as in Viet Nam. If the Vietnam Veterans remember, we were winning and the politicians lost the war for us and the loss of 50,000 Americans and 2,000,000 Vietnamese has haunted the Veterans of that War along with me. I was there in 1968 and I know the hurt. We are winning in Iraq and the politicians will now be allowed to do our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen as they did in 1975. If we take the War t them, then we won’t see the War here. If you haven’t seen the War first hand, it is impossible to know the devastation that War brings when it is brought home. We can not forget 9-11 and how we felt. Think of it on a scale 1,000 times worth and the thought of running away and calling for withdrawal will end.
3. I know first hand what tax cuts did for America. At my company I was able to hire more people and expand business, without them I would have remained stagnant. Putting money back in your pocket is a good thing and I want to see it permanent.
4. South Texas has remained in limbo in job creation, except for the Northern part of the district. Hundreds of Mexican Nationals are filling jobs because the word is not out to the lower part of the District that jobs are plentiful and are paying $24 per hour. Companies need to be informed that there is a viable workforce in South Texas and we want them to come to South Texas and relocate and build here. We have two ports in South Texas and they are the economic engines that create jobs as well as a great industrial district. Why are we not being sold to companies as a place to come and prosper? I think a lack of leadership.
6. CAFTA and NAFTA have drained jobs from South Texas. I don’t want isolation, but I don’t want America to suffer to enhance other countries. Good paying jobs have gone to the South because CAFTA/NAFTA was implemented. In return we have had a tremendous flow of illegal immigration as a payback. As long as American companies are allowed to take jobs South and drain the workforce from America because they get cheaper wages and pay less benefits, all the while increasing profits at the cost of America. When profit is placed ahead of America we all suffer and we all have. As long as foreign governments are allowed to be corrupt and American companies move there to enhance profit, you will pay the price. Where else but America would you pay China Billions of dollars to poison our children. It has to stop.
We need to make a choice, keep status going as we have or make a change. If you don’t like corrupt politicians, “then don’t re-elect them”.

Friends, I am running for the U.S. Congress in The 27th District of Texas. I ask for your vote on November 4, 2008 in the Republican Primary and your support, either by talking to your friends and neighbors or financially. I ran in 2004 and knocked on the door of the incumbent and then again in 2006 when I gave him a good run for his money. With your help, we can take District 27 and put a conservative voice in Washington, DC.
Read my Platform below to know what I stand for what I will stand up to do in Washington for the people of the 27th Congressional District of Texas.
Thank you for your support, Willie Vaden
